Ah, reviews. Sometimes, reviews are harder to come by than sales. But reviews are crucial for authors especially new ones.
From the original article:
“New authors— certainly self-published authors— have no symbolic capital. They are not (yet) known for producing quality books that seduce readers to the degree that they are willing to part with some of their disposable income, not to mention time. Is it possible for self-publishing authors to create symbolic capital? Absolutely yes, and many have.”
While it is tough for new authors (and even for more established authors) to get reviews for their new books, it isn’t impossible. But as layed out in this article, if you plan ahead and do your research, you can make those reviewing opportunities available.
